This fanlisting is for the character Marc St. James from Ugly Betty. Marc is the openly gay assistant of Wilhelmina Slater, originally the creative editor of Mode magazine. He is very loyal to her and will do whatever it takes for her to become the editor of the magazine, including several morally questionable schemes. Along with his best friend at Mode, Amanda, he spends time making fun of Betty, including taken moments of her screw-ups and using them as his new screensavers. He has spent several years letting Amanda pose as his girlfriend for his mother, but after their fake break up he introduces Betty as his new girlfriend, but eventually comes out to his mother. After Wilhelmina is fired from Mode, he goes with her, and schemes with her to try and take over Mode first by creating a rival magazine, and then by trying to create a Meade heir. His character is based on Hugo Lombardi in the original telenovela, Yo Soy Betty La Fea.

Marc is my favourite character in Ugly Betty and has been since near the beginning of the show. He's a lot of fun to watch as a character,

I chose the title 'Swishy!' because it's how Marc describes himself to his mother in 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' - he says "take a look at your own swishy son" when he comes out to her at Betty's house. He is swishy, one of the most flamboyantly gay characters on tv with a keen interest in fashion, and I just love the quote and the moment.
