Welcome to Swishy!, the only TFL approved fanlisting for the character Marc St. James from the television show Ugly Betty. Marc is the openly gay and incredibly bitchy assistant of Wilhelmina Slater at Mode magazine, and is very loyal to her which leads him to doing several morally questionable things. At Mode, he spends a lot of time making fun of Betty with Amanda when he is not scheming with his boss or helping her with her plans. Despite all of this, he is an incredibly lovable character; it turns out that he has been using Amanda as a beard so that his mother wouldn't suspect he was gay and eventually comes out to her at Betty's house. He has become a mentor to Betty's nephew, Justin, taking him under his wing at Mode while he is interning there. Marc is one of my favourite characters exactly because he is the bitchy, stereotypically gay man with a mean streak, he is incredibly witty and a lot of fun to watch on screen. I really enjoy his character development - the coming out to his mother, how he's started dating a guy who doesn't look like a model - and little by little, he's changing.
