A fanlisting is a place for all the fans of a particular show, movie, actor/actress, singer, etc. to come together and build the biggest listing of people all around the world who are fans of that subject. You can learn more about the idea behind it at TFL.org or you can even apply to get your very own fanlisting.
This fanlisting is for the relationship between the Doctor and Rose Tyler, my favourite companion. The Doctor and Rose first meet in the basement of the shop she works in, where he tells her to run and to forget about him. However, the plastic people being to stalk her as she has had contact with the Doctor and she gets wrapped up in the Doctor saving the world, eventually helping him out. Although she originally says she can't travel through space with the Doctor, he comes back for her, telling her the TARDIS can also travel through him and she agrees to go. The Doctor shows her a world she never knew existed, taking her to the end of Earth's life back to meet Charles Dickens and to alien worlds. However, the Daleks kidnap Rose Tyler and although the Doctor gets her back, he sends her back to Earth in the TARDIS thinking it is too dangerous for her. Rose realises that the Doctor has improved her quality of life and doens't want to go back to working in a shop, and finds a way to defeat the Daleks by absorbing the time vortex. The Doctor saves her by kissing it out of her, but regenerates into the Tenth Doctor. Rose is wary at first, but soon finds that he is the same person on the inside even if he doesn't look like it, and she becomes closer with this Doctor. Even when it seems hopeless to get the Doctor back, she never gives up on him and tells him that she'll stay with him forever if he wants her, and that he needs a hand to hold on his journeys. However, as she is trying to save the world with the Doctor, she is sucked into a parallel dimension and as the Doctor burns up a sun to says goodbye, Rose tells the Doctor she loves him. The Doctor is about to reply, but the transmission is cut off.
The Doctor and Rose have my favourite relationship on television right now, although they are not currently together. However, it's clear that the Doctor still misses Rose, and refuses to believe she is gone for good, instead choosing to say that she is "lost". One of the things I liked about them instantly is how at ease they were with each other, Rose was always straight with the Doctor and despite the trouble they ended up in, they had fun together and were real friends. They were never ready to give up on each other and Rose was always willing to fight to get back to the Doctor, instead of just staying at home and opting for the easy, trouble-free life like some people would. Although Rose was not book-smart, she had the sense and intelligence that the Doctor needed to help him. They were awesome to watch and I am so excited for the end of season four, when Rose returns!
I chose the title 'A Hand to Hold' as the Doctor really does need someone to hold his hand in the universe to save him from getting into too much trouble. It comes from a quote from the episode 'Fear Her' in season two, and I think it fits them so well, because they aren't ready to give up on each other no matter what.
