A fanlisting is a place for all the fans of a particular show, movie, actor/actress, singer, etc. to come together and build the biggest listing of people all around the world who are fans of that subject. You can learn more about the idea behind it at TFL.org or you can even apply to get your very own fanlisting.
This fanlisting is for the fantastic character Cordelia Chase from Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel. When we first meet Cordelia, she seems to have it all - rich and popular, she is the queen of Sunnydale High. When Buffy arrives, she befriends her, however, after Buffy almost stakes her, she makes Buffy an outcast after learning her secret. However, she often helps the Scooby gang out, often by accident, and becomes a full member after she kisses Xander. After she is outcast by her friends, she breaks up with him, but after realising that she has feeling for Xander, they start dating. They break up after she finds him kissing Willow, and goes back to taunting the Scooby Gang and trying to make them miserable. when she becomes poor after her dad is found to have been evading tax, she is outcast by her friends and has to start working to pay for her prom dress. Xander eventually buys it for her, and the two settle their differences. She becomes infatuated with Buffy's new watcher, Wesley, and kisses him before leaving for LA as she is unable to afford college.
She meets Angel early in LA while at an agency party, and along with Doyle he ends up saving her life from a vampire. She charms Angel into turning his fight into a business and she starts working for him as a receptionist, while pursuing her dreams of acting. When Doyle sacrifices his life to save them, she inherits his visions, and while at first she hates them, she accepts that they are now part of her and they are to help Angel. The visions start to become more painful, and at the end of season 1 they put her into a coma. Even though she is given an opportunity to give them up to the Groosalugg while in Pylea, she declines, saying that they are a part of her now. However, on her 21st birthday, she is sent into the astral plane by the severity of a vision. She is shown another life, one where she never met Angel in LA, but she finds a loophole and is transformed into part-demon, allowing her to keep the visions. Unknown to them all, this is the first step in a bigger plan, and it allows Cordelia's body to be used by evil. She is taken to a higher plane and her cells are merged with an evil entity known as Jasmine. When she returns, she has no memory, and though they are brought back by a spell in 'Spin the Bottle', this awakens the higher power. It begins to take over her body, taking hold of it to have sex with Connor so she can create a body for herself. The gang eventually realise that Cordelia has been possessed after she steals Angel's soul, and Skip reveals the master plan. It is discovered that Jasmine can't be removed from Cordelia without killing her or putting her into a coma, and Cordelia and Connor perform the ritual to seperate them, sending Cordelia into a coma. In 'You're Welcome', Cordelia seems to have awoken from her coma, but at the end of the episode it is revealed she has died, and that she appeared as an astral projection as the Powers-That-Be repay a favour.
Cordelia is my favourite character in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel. While she was in Sunnydale I always enjoyed her honest approach to things, preferring to speak her mind rather than be tactful in certain instances. Her relationship with Xander was so much fun to watch, and the heartbroken Cordelia in 'Lover's Walk' is something that you never would have seen in season 1, showing how much she'd changed even then. Her dreams to become an actress were shortlived after she started helping Angel, realising that it wasn't her destiny after inheriting the visions from Doyle. Out of the gang, she becomes closest to Angel, feeling betrayed and hurt that he slept with Darla, putting them all in danger. It's almost a parallel with her relationship with Xander, except this time, Cordelia is not only thinking about herself but the others too. After a near death experience, she becomes partly demon so she can carry on helping Angel - her most selfless act. The Cordelia that she becomes is not like her Sunnydale persona at all, and what I love about her most is her character development, and how much she changes due to the life she chooses with Angel.
I chose the title 'Princess' partly because it was an shorter version of the previous fanlisting name ('Not Your Average Princess') but mostly because it fits Cordelia so well. She really is a princess - treated like on while she is in Sunnydale by her parents, and then she becomes a real princess when she visits Pylea. She is also prone to acting like one at times, especially while in Sunnydale, but although she does grow up, there are always still traces of the Cordelia from her teenage years.
